CCTV for Ashok Nagar

Cameras planned for a well-established Chennai colony

Ashok Nagar was laid out in the 1960s as a planned residential colony, with numbered avenues and, from the 1970s, Tamil Nadu Housing Board flats. Today it mixes long-standing independent houses, older flats, newer apartment blocks built on redeveloped plots, and a busy commercial side of restaurants, eateries, shops and finance offices.

That mix means no two jobs look the same. A 40-year-old house needs cameras added without chasing walls; a new apartment block needs gate, lift and stilt-parking coverage; a restaurant needs a clear view of the cash counter. We plan each system around the building in front of us.

Because our office is in Kodambakkam, right next door, Ashok Nagar is one of the closest areas we serve. For our city-wide service, see CCTV installation in Chennai.

Older buildings

Adding CCTV to older Ashok Nagar homes and flats

Many houses and Housing Board-era flats here were built long before CCTV was common, so there are no ready cable paths, power points or a sensible place for a recorder. Retrofitting well is mostly about planning.

Tidy surface conduit

Where walls cannot be chased, we run cable in surface conduit along ceilings, corners and skirting so it stays neat and protected.

Reusing existing cable

If an old analog system is in place, we check whether its coaxial cabling is still sound enough to reuse with HD analog cameras.

Wi-Fi where cabling is hard

For rented flats or awkward runs, Wi-Fi cameras can work, provided the signal is reliable at each camera position. We check before recommending them.

A safe spot for the recorder

We place the DVR or NVR somewhere ventilated, out of casual reach and close to power and internet, not inside a closed cupboard.

Power and backup

Older wiring often means fewer sockets. We plan the power supply, and recommend a UPS so recording continues through short outages.

Shared buildings

In flats, we agree with neighbours or the association which common areas are covered and who can view them before installing.

Street cameras and your own

Why your own CCTV still matters near public cameras

In March 2026, a network of 100 CCTV cameras was launched across Ashok Nagar through a community initiative with the Lions Club and the Tamil Nadu Police, inaugurated at the R3 Ashok Nagar Police Station. Street cameras like these help with public safety on the roads.

They do not, however, show your gate close up, your car porch, your shop counter or the inside of your premises, and you cannot open them on your phone. A private system fills those gaps: it records exactly the areas you care about, and the footage is yours to review when something happens.

Pricing

What decides the cost

There is no fixed package price, because a retrofit in an older house and a new apartment install are very different jobs. Your quotation depends on:

  • Number of cameras and where they go
  • HD analog or IP, and resolution
  • Days of recording, which sets the hard disk size
  • Cable length and whether it is concealed or in conduit
  • Whether existing cabling can be reused
  • UPS and power arrangements

FAQs

CCTV installation in Ashok Nagar: common questions

Is your office near Ashok Nagar?

Yes. Our office is in Shakthi Nagar, Kodambakkam, which borders Ashok Nagar. We do not have a separate branch in Ashok Nagar; our technicians come to you from Kodambakkam.

Can you install CCTV in an old house without breaking the walls?

Yes. In most older homes we run cables in neat surface conduit along ceilings and corners instead of chasing walls. Where cabling is very difficult, Wi-Fi cameras can be an option if the signal is reliable.

Can my old CCTV cabling be reused?

Often it can. If you have an older analog system, we test the existing coaxial cable and, if it is in good condition, connect new HD analog cameras to it, which can reduce the cost of an upgrade.

There are already police cameras on my street. Do I still need CCTV?

Public street cameras cover roads, not the details of your gate, porch, shop counter or interior, and you cannot view them yourself. Your own system records the areas that matter to you and lets you check them on your phone.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Ashok Nagar?

It depends on the number and type of cameras, resolution, how many days of recording you need, cable length and routing, whether existing cable can be reused, and power backup. We give an itemised quotation after seeing the property.

Do you install CCTV for apartment associations and restaurants?

Yes. For associations we cover gates, lobbies, lifts, staircases and parking, and agree viewing access. For restaurants we cover the cash counter, entrance, dining area and kitchen pass.

Do you provide maintenance after installation?

Yes. We provide after-sales support and Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for CCTV systems. Ask us for AMC details along with your quotation.
